Yemen-Hadhramout-Beside Warsama Mousque
In early July of the year (2010), I received news that came as a thunderbolt on that day, a small lump in my breast was a bad omen and the beginning of a battle I fought to fight the malignant disease of breast cancer (may Allah protect us and you).
Honestly, the shock overwhelmed me and put everyone around me in a state of emergency, my family, my husband, my relatives, my martyred brother Abdul Rahman, they were all around me from the beginning and this is what eased the burden of the beginnings of this disease. My father, may Allah prolong his life, and my mother, may Allah have mercy on her, played a role in my morale, everyone surrounded me and this affected my psychological state for the positive and left a deep impression on my heart.
The memory of the teacher, educator and positive person in her life, one day and one night she was under the mercy of Allah and under the effects of this malignant disease, but her faith in Allah and the support of those around her made her take the necessary steps from the beginning. I underwent the first stage of treatment, which was the removal. That day, I felt that part of my femininity had gone and that it was no longer complete as it was. It was the most difficult period of treatment, which was not accepting this bitter reality. My faith in God and my satisfaction with His wisdom and ability, as well as the support of those around me, had a good effect on my psyche at the time. Abu Saleh, I thank God for the blessing of his presence around me. He was the best husband and companion in all stages of my illness, supporting me psychologically and morally, and with all the types of support he had, he did not skimp on me. Praise be to God for his presence with me.
After the surgery, I took doses of chemotherapy and underwent its arduous sessions, but I did not face any difficulties worth mentioning at this stage. I also do not want to forget the role of the two doctors, "Dr. Saeed Al-Shuaib", may God have mercy on him, and "Dr. Muhammad Baamer", may God prolong his life and keep him, who were like a beacon that I could shine by and did not skimp on any effort or medical advice for me. I thank them greatly and appreciate them. Hadhramout Foundation for Cancer Control played the biggest role, providing me with free chemotherapy and tests, not to mention the necessary moral and psychological support, especially the support provided by Ms. "Sahalah Bahidra". This support was a lifeline to overcome the stages of chemotherapy and its psychological benefits. I am grateful to them all, each by name and title in this pioneering institution.
Believing in returning the favor with the favor, after my recovery, I decided to volunteer in the Sand Association affiliated with Hadhramout Foundation for Cancer Control and support my sisters psychologically and socially, to sustain this blessed work and stand by my sisters and colleagues with everything I can offer them.
Cancer had a positive impact on me!
It was the reason for my getting closer to God more, my regularity in prayer and reading my daily prayers, and it strengthened my relationship with my family more and more. Praise be to God, before and after. After recovering, I returned to my work and my first life normally, doing my household chores and taking care of my husband and son. Volunteering in the institution also took up a large part of my interests. Finally, there is no despair in life, and with every hardship comes ease. This is my philosophy, which summarizes my life journey and my challenging period of illness, but with faith, patience and determination we can overcome any difficulty.
As for my advice to my sisters, the new patients, it is to be disciplined in following up on treatment and conducting periodic examinations on a regular basis, adhering to a healthy diet, reading the Quran and regularly reciting Surat Al-Baqarah in particular, in addition to immunization, remembrance and constant charity as much as possible.
Dhikra was not just a statistic in the patient record, but rather became an inspiring success story. Thanks to her strong faith and the support of her family and community, she was able to defeat cancer. This confirms the importance of social support in the healing process.
It has been proven that illness does not determine a person's fate, and that faith in God and the support surrounding him are the strongest weapons to face any challenge. Today, I am not just a survivor, but an "ambassador of hope", calling on everyone to unite and show solidarity to confront diseases.
